NICKLpass is seeking a talented and experienced CTO / Technical Lead to join our growing team. As a Technical Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of our products, managing and mentoring the engineering team, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities:
- Team management: Set clear expectations with, mentor, coach, and develop team members to foster a culture of learning, growth, and agency within the engineering team. Regularly meet with individuals to discuss performance and development. Ensure the team has the necessary support and resources to excel in their roles.
- Software design: Collaborate with our Head of Product and cross-functional teams to define, design, and architect complex software solutions that align with business goals.
- Software development: Design, implement, test, deploy, maintain, and iterate on the product through hands-on coding, coding review, and establish software development patterns.
- Software productionisation:: Establish and maintain high product uptime and stability by operating a strong testing culture, blameless postmortems, production-oriented tooling, and regular triage and debugging, either hands on or through team leadership.
- Technical strategy: Contribute to the development of the technical roadmap, making informed decisions on technology stack, tools, and frameworks.
- Collaboration: Foster collaboration and effective communication between cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to achieve project objectives.
- Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. Proactively explore adopting new technologies or patterns while balancing against the product roadmap.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in two or more programming languages and a deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role with 2 years of experience in a people management or a supervision/team leadership role.
- 5 years experience building user-facing web and mobile apps end-to-end (front end, back end, data, testing, etc.) and using web and mobile SDKs and APIs.
- 2 years of experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and service-based architecture.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience building B2B (business-to-business) solutions in marketplace or payment solutions verticals.
- Experience building web or mobile SDKs or APIs.
- Experience mentoring software engineering teams.
- A passion for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
