For example, Meta’s decision to cut SparkAR will lead to the loss of millions of works of art from over 600,000 creators and developers. The same will apply to our spatial future.

Illust is looking to shape the future of the spatial web by innovating at the intersection of augmented reality (AR), Web3, and map based technology to ultimately create a future that protects our spatial privacy, authorship, and history.

Product Overview

Illust currently runs a subscription based augmented reality studio suite that gives creators the ability to create, mint, and publish geofenced AR messages, images, videos, and 3D experiences in a mobile device’s web browser. Experiences can be minted into a geo-spatial registry (GSR) of content experiences. Visitors to experience can mint a proof of their experience which will be stored on the GSR, acting as a social graph for content experiences that exist in the world. Ultimately we’d like to train a LLM off of this data to create a contextual computing platform for pathways of navigation through the world.

Position Summary

As the Product Manager (PM), you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our technology strategy. You will be responsible for maintaining our product roadmap, scheduling, sprints, and communication between our development talent. Our AR platform is built on Web3 principles, ensuring scalability, security, and seamless integration of blockchain functionalities. Your role will be crucial in driving innovation, overseeing the implementation of the technical roadmap, and helping us build a world-class engineering team.

The role will be on-site in Venice, CA one day a week, requiring 5-10 hours per week for the first 6 months. After 6 months, there is potential to transition to a full-time position, working on-site 3 days a week.

• ‍Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in execution.

Product Development and Innovation:

• Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
• Champion innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance our AR capabilities and user experiences.

Security and Scalability:

• Ensure robust security measures are implemented across the platform, especially concerning blockchain and user data.
• Design scalable architecture to support rapid growth and increasing user demand.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including founders, design, development, and business development to deliver integrated solutions.
• Communicate technology strategy and progress effectively to stakeholders, investors, and the broader community.

Qualifications

• Proven experience (3+ years) as a Product Manager or similar leadership role in a technology-driven startup or innovative environment.
• High level technical understanding of augmented reality (AR), Web3 technologies, and blockchain development (Ethereum, Solidity, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of scalable backend architecture, cloud infrastructure (Firebase, AWS, GCP, etc.), and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience managing high-performance engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex projects on schedule.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for disruptive technologies and creating impactful user experiences.
• Bonus: understanding of programming languages/tech stack include but not limited to: Three.js, ReactThreeFiber, C++, NPM, Typescript, and Solidity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and decentralized applications (dApps).
• Contributions to open-source projects. Involvement in the AR/VR community.
• Major bonus for GIS experience and Rust
