What you will do
As the key financial leader within the organisation, you will work closely with the founders, the executive leadership team and other senior stakeholders to shape the overall strategy of the business. You will personally lead the design and delivery of the financial strategy, including reporting, financing, and driving sustainable growth.
Your areas of responsibility will include:
Growing a Finance function
- Evaluate and optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of the core finance team's operations, structure, systems and technology.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing finance team capable of supporting the organization's growth objectives.
- Establish training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Ownership over the financial model
- Take the lead on the annual budget (in collaboration with Executive Team)
- Analyse and enhance the financial model incl. both financial and operating targets ensuring its robustness, structural integrity, and alignment with business objectives.
- Validate key assumptions, ensuring they reflect realistic drivers and are measurable to guide decision-making accurately.
- Leverage internal data to refine the financial model, ensuring accurate forecasts for future funding and liquidity events.
- Develop and communicate a comprehensive, accurate financial picture for potential funding or liquidity scenarios.
Reporting
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of management accounts, fostering transparency and precision in financial reporting.
- Oversee sales invoicing and credit control processes to maximise efficiency and minimise risk.
- Verify the accuracy of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) incl. financial, operating, sales, and else and revenue recognition, aligning reporting with actual outcomes.
- Perform periodic latest estimate process for future month and financial year performance.
- Own the monthly Board performance reports on financial and operating metrics vs. plan.
- Provide financial leadership, offering credibility and strategic insights to the board.
- Conduct potential tax reviews, including share option valuations, sales tax, and intellectual property considerations.
Strategy
- Assess and orchestrate the optimal mix and size of future equity or venture debt rounds to support growth initiatives.
- Oversee the funding process, aligning financial strategies with the company's long-term goals.
- Act as a strategic partner to the go-to-market sales team, balancing financial considerations with growth strategies.
- Evolve pricing, sales structures, upsell strategies, and compensation plans for sustained success.
- Standardise terms and conditions with clients and optimise legal turnaround time in deal management processes.
- Shield executives from investor pressures, allowing focus on operational excellence.
Who you are
You are a seasoned finance professional with a passion for diversity and inclusion, eager to contribute to the success of a mission-driven organisation.
Your profile would ideally include all or most of the following:
- Highest ethical standards
- CIMA, ACA or ACCA certification is essential
- Proven experience in financial leadership roles, ideally within a scaling business or similar environment
- In-depth knowledge of financial modelling, strategic planning, and tax regulations
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Exceptional communication and listening skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- High energy, results-oriented, and determined to do all necessary to assist in the company's success
- Dynamic with a true entrepreneurial spirit and passion for a fast-paced, growing environment
- Think strategically, drive to action, and be ready to roll up your sleeves
- Desire and ability to learn new things and be a part of a dynamic and growing team
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at once, last-minute requests and quick turnarounds with a positive attitude
- A passion for diversity, inclusion and everything LGBT+ related matters
